It's official - as of yesterday, I am now in my mid thirties. Thirty-five years ago yesterday, the third rock from the sun was graced with a presence that would forever change it (or at least that's what I tell m'self). In all seriousness, though, life has been good for the first thirty-five and I can only hope that this trend continues for the next sixty-five.
I had a great time for the birthday yesterday, with many well-wishes coming from several quarters. I led a group to the pool for a little while in the afternoon and then met up with another group for dinner at Joe's Crab Shack so I could get my Bean Town Bake on once again. To top the evening off, some of the boys came back to my pad to help me enjoy a nice Perdomo 10th Anniversary Champagne cigar on the back porch, to commemorate my 35th anniversary of life on this planet. It was a good day.
I just wanted to take this time to shout out to my dad and all my friends that made yesterday great, and say thank you for being friends and family. Due to the logistics of things I couldn't celebrate my birthday with everyone, and I do hope that no one feels slighted by the fact that I couldn't invite everyone to dinner. It's pretty awesome to know that you have enough friends who would actually come to fill a restaurant if they were asked to do so. I have a lot of friends and it's an amazing feeling to know that I belong somewhere and that I'm an integral part of people's lives.
And finally, I want to thank everyone that gave me a gift for my birthday. Every one of them was thoughtful and speaks to who I am as a person, which just goes to show that people were thinking about things and in this case, it truly, truly is the thought that counts. I enjoy the actual things less than I enjoy the fact that people thought about who I am and got things that they thought I would like, and that tells me that they care about me. Whether it was a card, a gift card, a chair, or even a model, people were thinking and that is an awesome testament.
I love you guys! Thanks to all my friends, wherever you are, for making the first 35 a great time to be me! You guys all rock!
