I just wanted to say that I found it highly amusing that no less than three people were late to home team tonight (myself included) because AMC was running The Karate Kid and we were each waiting to see the "You're the best...around!" karate tournament montage. As much as I hate to admit it, this is the movie that got me into karate in 1985 (although I didn't actually start karate until a year or two later).
I also love how I can throw out quotes from this movie in just about any social group and someone will know what I'm talking about. All I have to do is say, "sweep the leg, Johnny" and I'll get a grin from someone. Such a terrible movie, and so far from the mark when it comes to the reality of martial arts, and yet such a formative movie in my development.
You're the best around, indeed.

i still grin over watching it at alamo drafthouse. :D
Ah yes. I'm not sure which was funnier: the comments being made by the Mr. Sinus guys or Scott trying to hold in his laughter until all the "legal eagles" left midway through.
I can't watch that one scene without hearing "Get the f--- OOOOUuuuutttt!" and chuckling to myself.
i think i snorted coke out of my nose at that scene. but i agree, i don't know what was funnier, scott's red face or that line.
Man who catch fly with chopsticks accomplish anything.
I actually slid "wax on, wax off" into an order at Starbucks today. I don't even know how it happened!
Hi Drew!!
